The world is in tumult as a result of sharp differences over ideology and governance systems, territorial conflicts, military aggression, and the weaponization of trade and technology. A gridlocked multilateral order has adversely impacted peace and stability, post-pandemic economic recovery, climate action and green transitions, among other major priorities before the global community.
Nonetheless, there is a ray of hope. The churn in the Indo-Pacific, the pushback against regional hegemonism, and the thrust on resilient supply chains and unfettered developmental finance are bringing together like-minded partners to secure a better future.
India, in recent decades, has demonstrated a capacity and willingness to play a bigger role on the global stage. India’s successful G20 presidency drew upon its civilizational ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family) to forge consensus. Its ethical and values-based approach provides an alternative future for humanity.
